Description

Millions of visitors from around the world descended to the shores of Lake Michigan for Chicago’s Century of Progress Exhibition. First held in 1933, the event was so popular it was extended to a second season in 1934.

This brochure was issued to capitalize on the ‘second wave’ of motorists traveling east across the states of Washington, Montana, South Dakota, Idaho, and Wyoming. “The most beautiful mountain and canyon scenery in America. A vacation trip you will always remember.”

The various paved routes are noted, along with local locations of interest, towns, and events. Two bubbles identify the Century of Progress in Chicago and National Geographic Stratosphere Hop in Rapid City. Published and distributed in Rapid City by the South Dakota Automobile Club.
