Description

The United States Clean Air Act of 1970 did much to help with the nation’s worst environmental pollution problems, but more work was needed. Los Angeles remained the smog capital of America, thanks in large part to unregulated industry, high concentration of vehicles, and unique local geography. This eye-catching poster points the blame squarely at the region’s massive petrochemical industry, with a tearful child superimposed atop a large refining plant. Thou shalt not kill reminds the audience of their Christian values, apparently frequently forgotten in the corporate world.

Design and photography by the talented Ron Raffaelli, best known for his shots of rock and roll superstars like Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin and for dabbling in the production of erotic pornography. Published in Los Angeles in 1971 by Sunset Marketing, Inc.
