Description

“Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, To Dungeons Deep and Caverns Old. We Must Away, Ere Break of Day, to Find Our Long-Forgotten Gold.” – Text, bottom.

Follow Bilbo Baggins’ fantastical journey through the Forest of Mirkwood and across the Enchanted River to the Elven-King’s Halls with this vibrantly illustrated map. A beautiful aerial perspective offers a fantastic overview of the remote region of Middle-Earth known as the Wilderland; the setting for Tolkien’s novel, The Hobbit. Notable landmarks include Rivendell, Mount Gundabad, and the Goblin-gate of Eyrie. Illustrations surrounding the image show the dragon, Smaug, and the party of Thorin Oakenshield in a state of merriment at Bilbo’s home.

Drawn by John Howe and published in 1995 by Harper Collins. Originally issued to accompany There and Back Again, a small booklet describing the geography of The Hobbit that was authored by renowned Tolkien expert Brian Sibley.
