Description

This relatively simple world map identifies the major international production centers for the most popular recreational drugs of the 20th century (excluding alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine). Growing, refining, production, and money laundering operations are noted according to the legend in the lower center. Small captions identify notable sites including the French Connection (Marseilles), the world’s last legal ‘ludes (Indian mandis), and the world’s top crank consumer (Japan). On the verso is an abstract world map on a polar projection showing major trade routes for heroin, marijuana, Quaaludes, cocaine, and Khat.

The repercussions of the drug trade have long affected global politics and the map is an interesting expose of how part of the business worked in the mid 80’s. Published in the September 1985 issue of High Times (Farmingdale, New York).
