The World

An illustrated microcosm of the entire world.

This quaint global perspective was published by Unique Media in 2009 and provides a cartoonish overview of our world less than a decade into a new millennium. Pictorial topography and drastic changes in color emphasize the various climates and ecosystems across Earth, with major geographic features individually labeled.

There are few political borders, and major settlements are identified with stylized skylines and iconic structures. An interesting worldwide overview in pictorial form. A map of the Pacific Rim, designed using the same format, can be found on the verso.

The distinctive cartoon style is a hallmark of the Ontario, Canada-based Unique Media, Inc. Starting in the late 1970s, the company created a number of maps with a similar aesthetic of locations across the United States and continues to do so to this day.
