[The Warhammer World]

The Warhammer franchise began as a tabletop board game created by Bryan Ansell, Richard Halliwell, and Rick Priestley that was first published by Games Workshop in 1983. The high-fantasy setting centered around miniature figurines would become immensely popular and grow into a media empire spanning video games, novels, and more.

This map of the Warhammer world was published by Games Workshop, Ltd in 2005, shortly before the release of the 7th edition ruleset. It shows the vast geographic scope of the fantasy environment, which is home to numerous races fighting constantly over control. The forces of Chaos, the Empire, Lizardmen, Dwarves, Orcs, and Elves are just a few examples. Inspiration is clearly drawn from the ‘real world’, both in geographic outline and content like the ‘Great Bastion’ in Grand Cathay.
