Description

Rand McNally & Company, a prominent local publishing house, created a vast quantity of printed material to promote the Columbian Exposition, held in Chicago’s Jackson Park in 1893. This map was issued on behalf of a number of different firms who wished to advertise at the fair, with this particular example distributed by the Union News Company.

Outlines of each building and attraction are labeled in both the White City and adjacent Midway Plaisance, with nearby transportation routes noted. Accompanying indices identify dozens of individual sites, making for a detailed and comprehensive overview of the Columbian Expo.
