Description

This map of the southeastern United States was published in 1812 by Matthew Carey and Benjamin Warner. It covers the area south of Kentucky and Virginia and east of the Mississippi River. Since it predates the Adams-Onis Treaty of 1819, Florida is still under Spanish control and divided into the provinces of east and west, though very little detail is given to the former.

Elsewhere, the Mississippi Territory can be seen incorporating Alabama prior to its statehood. Topography is depicted in hachure and extensive marches are shown throughout Florida and North Carolina. An interesting piece of cartography from a formative period of the southern states.
