Description

This interesting map covers a large portion of western Washington and northern Oregon and emphasizes the regional network of roads. Though a legend has been omitted, it’s likely that the red routes indicate paved highways, while the black lines represent gravel or dirt roads. Distances between points are noted and several highways are named, though none are numbered.

National Parks, National Forests, mountain peaks, and other geographic features are labeled throughout. The verso presents a comprehensive mileage table of distances between principal points as far away as Salt Lake City. It’s surrounded by captioned photographs highlighting the outdoor beauty and recreation available in the Pacific Northwest.

Copywritten and published by the Automobile Club of Washington in Seattle. Undated, but the automobiles shown and the absence of U.S. Highways indicates it was likely issued in the first few years of the 1920s.
