Description

Having gotten their start as a garage band in Queens in the mid-1970’s, the Ramones would ultimately go on to perform nearly 2,500 concerts over a 20+ year career. Though the self-titled debut studio album was released to modest commercial success, its fast pace, “in your face” lyrics, electronic instrumentals and iconic album cover would change music forever.

This map was drawn by artist John Holmstrom and published by the Queens Museum in 2016 to promote the opening of a new exhibit celebrating the band. The verso includes numerous photographs (including the aforementioned album cover) and interesting facts about the Ramones.

The first press release, from 1975, is also provided: “The Ramones all originate from Forest Hills and kids who grew up there either became musicians, degenerates, or dentists. The Ramones are a little of each.”
