“Now, 15 Armies Mass for Final Conquest of Germany.”

Description
This presumptive map was published as part of the October 17, 1944 edition of The Cleveland Press. It highlights the shrinking German territory in Europe, assaulted on all sides by a combination of Allied forces. The resounding success of the invasion of Normandy and southern France had prompted much optimism on the American homefront, reflected in the accompanying text by Frederic Sterbenz. Flags and arrows in the lower right were designed to mark the progress of battles and offensive advances.
