Description

Devoted philatelist Maynard Sundman founded the Littleton Stamp Company in 1945, shortly after returning home from deployment in World War II. The company grew rapidly in subsequent decades in conjunction with the popularity of the hobby and, in 1972, grew to incorporate coins in the printed catalogs.

This reference map was published by the Littleton Stamp Company around 1965, based on the borders of Gambia and existence of Basutoland (Lesotho would gain independence in 1966). A simple global political overview is topped by numerous images of ‘some stamps which are difficult to identify for beginners.’

The verso offers a comprehensive Philatelic Gazetteer and Stamp Collector’s Guide, listing alphabetically current and historical stamp-issuing political entities and organizations.
