Description
There are infinite ways to visualize the historic career of David Bowie, one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. This innovative method marries time, music, pop culture, and science by presenting ‘The Periodic Table of Bowie.’
Dozens of names comprise the colorful chart, organized like to the real thing with those sharing similar ‘elemental properties’ grouped together. Weight gives way to time in terms of order, with early ‘Lyrical Beginnings’ (blue) at the top and ‘History is a Choice the Future Decides Upon’ comprising the contributing elements at the bottom of the table.
The chart was designed by artist Paul Robertson in 2012 for an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum titled ‘David Bowie Is’. Signed in the lower right and inscribed to bookseller Lorne Bair, from whose collection it was acquired.
