Description
This fascinating and ephemeral little booklet tracks the precise position of telephone wires along the route of the Logansport (Indiana) Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. A series of diagrams marks numbered positions (and power lines/signal arms) on utility poles beginning in Bradford, Ohio, and continuing westward to the Yard Office in Logansport. Here, the line count expands dramatically and carries on to branches in Effner and South Bend.
According to the front cover, the piece was originally created in 1925 and then revised in early 1940. This particular telephonic reference was well-used by a previous owner (and presumably employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad) named Ralph C. Koppe of Logansport, IN. In addition to his name and address, Koppe also penciled in a variety of reminders to help with the job (i.e., two long rings to Effner, three short rings to the Kewanna Tower).
