Description

This charming map of the greater Minneapolis area highlights the local small business economy around three bodies of water in the famous Chain of Lakes System – Lake of the Isles, Lake Calhoun (now Bde Maka Ska) and Lake Harriet. Located just southeast of downtown, the nearby urban center is noted with two skyscrapers in the upper right corner of the map.

Elsewhere, building profiles and small annotations highlight the history and local economy of The Neighboring Lakes region. Using this information, the map can be dated to between 1982 and 1983. Drawn by Cathy Walter and published in Minneapolis by the Walter Studios. A wonderful example of civic pride and collaboration between small businesses.
