The National Rifle Association Pictorial Wildlife and Game Map of the United States

NRA publication of Ira Moss’s attractive wildlife map of the United States.

This map is a fantastic showcase of the natural diversity available in the United States, with detailed illustrations of sixty-eight different species of birds and fifty-five illustrations of various mammals, including big game, predators, and rodents. Skillful color shading alludes to the various ecosystems in which these animals thrive, from the swampy wetlands of Florida to the arid deserts of Nevada.

Numerous inset maps around the border show the nesting and wintering areas of various species, and National Forests are represented by symbols of pine trees throughout the image (and also listed in the text box in the lower left).

The map was originally designed by Ira Moss in 1956, but this version is from 1972 and published by Shorewood Reproductions on behalf of the National Rifle Association for their 100th anniversary.
