The most important Castles and Mansion-Houses in Czechoslovakia
$125.00
A cartographic celebration of Czechoslovakia’s rich architectural diversity.
Description
Although the country was part of the Eastern Bloc at the time this map was published, that did not dissuade officials from the Committee for Tourism in Prague from issuing it in the hopes of drawing tourism dollars into Czechoslovakia. The title is presented in four different languages – German, Russian, French and English – an effective method for ensuring the broadest possible audiences.
Within the image are artistic illustrations of many of Czechoslovakia’s gorgeous castles, villas, and chateaus. Although difficult to see, the individual buildings are also labeled adjacent to each drawing. An inset map shows the primary roads, while various panels on the verso (again, in multiple languages) provide more information about the historic architecture. An interesting piece of Cold War advertising.
