This charming print was based on a drawing by W.A. Rogers and was issued in the September 28, 1878 issue of Harper’s Weekly Magazine.
The sheet presents several scenes that were typical of state fairs in the late 19th century. Agricultural and produce exhibit, games of chance, hurdle racing, and great waves of travelers. Of particular interest is the Native American family eyeing the exhibits, as well as the elk harness racing!
