Description
This hyper-localized example of promotional cartography was designed by R.L. Peterson of Douglas, Wyoming and distributed ‘Compliments of Douglas Professional and Businessmen’ according to text in the lower left corner. The image pinpoints the homesteads and properties of local landowners across Converse County (in which Douglas is the county seat).
An index along the bottom of the page locates over 250 different families and businesses. Geographic features, local industries, and other locations of interest are labeled throughout. Oil surfaced roads, graded roads, and (dirt) trails are noted according to the legend in the lower right. Undated, but definitely printed before Converse County’s enlargement via special election in 1955.
