Description
This interesting artistic cutaway of Chicago’s Merchandise Mart was designed by artist Ray Wade to accompany a 1951 article in Holiday Magazine, written by Fanny Butcher. It highlights the ‘National Bazaar’, stretching an entire city block along the Chicago River – a commercial enterprise so large it requires its own zip code! The quaint mid-century illustration showcases a variety of commercial goods, fashionable guests, and the transportation infrastructure of the vast edifice.
