Description

This charming little map presents an oblique view of the central portion of Washington, D.C. With the Potomac River in the foreground, several of the capital’s most prominent attractions are illustrated in profile. Others are numbered and identified by the two accompanying legends in the upper left and lower right. The Lee House, a luxury hotel promoted by the brochure is also outlined.

Thick black lines are embedded with detailed turn by turn directions based on the approach taken. Since the establishment was an ‘Official AAA Hotel’, it’s unsurprising to find a simplified road map of the region on the verso, encouraging visitors to take their car and head out to see the sights!

The map was apparently designed by Lee House manager Edward Martin and published by the Everett Waddey Company. One of at least three different versions of the brochure that were published to advertise The Lee House.
