Description

This amusing commentary on the golfing obsession was based on a drawing by the talented illustrator Harry Furniss and originally published in the October 22, 1892 edition of Punch, or the London Charivari. This particular example was likely issued the following year as part of an anthology.

The image presents vivid scenes from an exhausted golfer’s dreamland – elegant ladies teeing off, spectacular shots over large hazards, and balls that can never be missed are among the various fantasies. Golf fanatics have clearly been around for over a century!
