Description

While in many ways an eyesore, this interesting double sided map of Charleston, South Carolina does embody the aesthetic of the early 1970’s. Titled as a map that is both fun and historic, one side (presumably the fun?) shows the location of grocery chains, tire outlets, liquor stores, apartment buildings and gas stations.

The verso seems more geared to the tourist, and provides small provide illustrations of many of the city’s historic landmarks. Drawn by Barbara Jones and printed by Pleasantburg Printmakers & Supplies, Inc. in 1971.
