Description
This action-packed map presents two cartographic outlines for different Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. To the left, the Citadel of the Witch King awaits any party brave enough to ascend its minaret before delving down to the Gate of the Abyss. To the right, the Palace of Orcus, complete with throne, sits above an incredibly complex ziggurat comprised of several puzzle-like features, mazes, and twisting corridors. The rest of Thanatos is a fiery hellscape, while an inset in the upper left presents the Street Maze for Orcusgate. The map was published by TSR, Inc. in 1988.
Tactical Studies Rules (TSR) was founded in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin in 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye to publish their wargames, quickly pivoting to focus on their groundbreaking tabletop role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. The immense success of D&D in the late 1970s transformed the small company into a major force in the hobby game industry, leading to rapid expansion, a wide range of new products, and the launch of iconic campaign settings like Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms.
