Description
This scarce engineering plan outlines a proposed new rail line to access Wilson’s quarry, along Twin Creek in Lewisburg, Ohio. Details on sectional lines, property owners, and railroad infrastructure is noted throughout. Issued in Van Wert, Ohio in 1902 by an anonymous engineer for the Cincinnati Northern Railroad. According to the Lewisburg Historical Society,
“The railroad gave Lewisburg a new life. Within four years a new lumber yard, coal yard, and stockyard were established. Ice could now be brought in by rail from the northern lakes and stored in commercial ice houses. Old businesses found new prosperity. One of these was the Wilson and Weaver Limestone Quarries (presently the Lewisburg Haunted Caves). “
