Description
The ‘Lucky Seventh’ was an armored division under the command of Major General Robert W. Hasbrouck that saw significant action along the western front of the European Theater during World War II. This map was issued to members of the unit shortly after V-E Day to commemorate their achievements during the war.
Starting with landings on Utah and Omaha Beach (lower left), the unit advanced through France, Belgium, and Holland before crossing the Rhine into Germany. Small illustrations highlight notable moments throughout the campaign, such as V-2 rockets over London, cycling in the French countryside, and the Battle of the Bulge (represented by Hitler’s crushed advance). ‘The Box Score’ provides a quantifiable summary of the division’s accomplishments; including enemies defeated, awards, and notable dates.
