This unusual sheet presents the world in six different perspectives on an orthographic projection, each focused on a separate continent. Each image is immaculately detailed; with finely engraved place names, hachure relief, and numerous annotations.
Despite the authoritative view and complete world image, ambiguous outlines around the poles and pays inexplores in Africa reflect that much of the Earth remained to be ‘discovered.’ Attractive wash color and a piano-key border completes the sheet, which was published in Paris by F.A. Garnier in 1860.
