Description
Established in the Sierra Nevada in Northern California in 1897, Stanislaus National Forest is one of the oldest protected woodlands in the United States. This map was designed by W.B. Greeley of the Forest Service and published in 1928 by the Government Printing Office to promote automobile tourism to the park.
Motor highways are brightly highlighted in red, while other visitor amenities, transportation routes, and boundary lines are noted according to the legend in the lower right. Text and photographs on the verso describe in detail the park’s composition, rules, and major attractions.
