Description

The Louisiana Purchase Exposition was a World’s Fair held in St. Louis in 1904 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of…. you guessed it! The Louisiana Purchase. Nearly 20 million visitors attended the fair, which was held at Forest Park between April and December.

This lithographed pocket map shows the grounds of the fair and labels each building individually, as well as entrances and nearby transportation options. The Midway can be seen near the bottom of the sheet and a comprehensive index of buildings and attractions fills the right side and margin.

The verso lists facts about the Universal Exposition, hack and cab rates, and features along the Pike. It also provides a map of St. Louis that emphasizes the streetcar lines leading to the World’s Fairgrounds.
