Description

This geologic survey sheet was published in 1902 by the Field Operations department in the Bureau of Soils at the United States Department of Agriculture. The surveying was performed by Hervber W. Marean, while the firm of Julius Bien & Co. printed the sheet in New York.

It covers the area of Posey County, Indiana and includs details on county roads, towns, simple topography and railroads. Various soil types are colored and identified in the legend on either side of the map. The grey shade of Miami silt loam covers most of the area, hence the county’s strong emphasis on agriculture. Drawn to a scale of 1 inch to 1 mile.
