Description

This interesting little turn-of-the-century map, published by Rand McNally, outlines a select network of railroads between Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Guadalajara and Vera Cruz, Mexico. The Illinois Central railroad provides the primary backbone of the presented system, but the Southern Pacific, Mexican Central, and Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad (an IC subsidiary) are all important components. Undated, likely issued in the early 1890s, based on the presence of the Indian Territory and the railroads depicted. Possibly an early promotional piece for the Louisville, New Orleans and Texas Railway (est. 1892)?
