Description
“Shell has produced a series of 12 “Finger-Tip” Tours folders, of which this is one. These give you handy, concise descriptions of the West’s scenery, historic spots, main cities, and points of interest.” – pg. 2. This interesting brochure, published in 1950 by the Shell Oil Company, offers summaries of various points of interest between Santa Monica and Amarillo. The itinerary mostly follows the iconic Route 66, but several other highways are incorporated into the tour guide. Red and yellow marginal coloring reflects attractions along the recommended routes and those accessed via short side trips, respectively. While there are a few black and white photos included, the lack of any map or geographic reference leaves a significant gap in the content.
