Description
This impressive display of world, national, and local information was published in the 1930s by the Geographical Publishing Company of Chicago. It was distributed by the Montana Farmer to an audience eager for geographic information, with war looming in Europe.
The first sheet offers a political map of the world on an equal-area projection. Portraits of numerous national leaders can be seen at the top and bottom of the page. The presence of P.E. Svinhufvud (replaced in 1937) and Konstantin Pats (inaugurated in 1938) help to approximate the date, but several inconsistencies are present. Adolf Hitler is shown as the ‘Dictator of Germany’, but Nadir Khan, King of Afghanistan, was assassinated in 1933! The opposite side of the first page shows a transportation map of the United States. The second sheet contains a city index for places with a population over 3,000, with a transportation map of Montana (similar to the U.S.) on the verso.

Condition Description: Two double-sided sheets affixed to a thin metal bar. Heavy wear throughout, including abrasion and minor image loss at the top of the first page. Several irregular tears along the outer edges of the sheet, the largest about 3" in the lower center. Between fair and good condition overall.
