Description

This simple and effective city plan uses color to differentiate between various amenities for service men and women on leave in Washington, D.C during World War II. Red dots show places to sleep, green dots are sightseeing locations, and blue dots are entertainment and social places like ARC clubs, officer’s lounges, and churches. Additional details are provided for each are provided on the verso.

Several locations, including USO clubs and YMCAs, are listed as (Negro); reflecting segregated facilities. Others are marked with an asterisk, indicating that Service Women are welcome.
