Description

Administered separately prior to 1943, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is a consolidated area under the National Park Service that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The park is known for its giant redwoods, notably the ‘General Sherman’, which is among the largest living things on the planet.

This guide, issued in 1959, provides a wealth of information on the local flora and fauna, as well as park rules, travel suggestions, interesting landmarks, and amenities. Photographs of the gorgeous scenery are scattered throughout, and a detailed transportation map is provided as the centerfold. It shows transportation routes as well as hiking trails, campgrounds, ranger stations, and fire lookouts.
