Description

This incredible set of four different objects comprises a living memory of a self-escorted tour through the 1934 Century of Progress Exposition. The tours were organized and material distributed by Carson Pirie Scott & Company, one of Chicago’s finest retail outlets on the corner of State & Madison Streets.

A double-sided folding map shows a detailed outline of the fairgrounds, while the verso presents a simplified transportation outline highlighting the location of Carson Pirie Scott. It was issued in a custom folder with a typed itinerary, all of which are well marked in pencil by a previous owner.

Also included is a Railway Tourist Combination Book, indicating that the tour attendee was visiting from out of town. An action-packed day that included symphonies, Shakespearean plays, and even an offer for a free can-opener!
