Charming Chevrolet promotional map of the United States published while road travel was skyrocketing in the United States.

With the introduction of the Interstate Highway system, more reliable vehicles and better travel information, road trips became increasingly popular throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s. Chevrolet hoped to capitalize on this public interest by publishing a vacation planning map for potential customers. “Nearly 500 choice U.S. vacation and recreation locales – covering everything from hunting to water-skiing to hiking – are sketched in pictures and word.”

The map is illustrated with small vignettes, each numbered for easy reference. Additional information regarding each destination could be found on the verso, along with photographic advertisements for six of Chevrolet’s most popular models. “Road Fun for Small Fry” provides several amusing games for children to play on long road trips, while adults can drool over the 10 feet of load length, jet-smooth ride and easy to load trunk that makes the ’61 Chevy Wagon a must have!
