This eye-catching advertisement was published in a 1940 magazine to promote Pullman’s ‘Grand Circle’ Plan. Flat rates for ‘Pullman charges’ (i.e. luxurious accommodations) combined with reduced fares per mile promises savings of 50% or more, though a small disclaimer in the lower right notes added charges for ‘certain side trips and on a few indirect routes.’ A central pictorial map showcases all the country has to offer from coast to coast, while captioned illustrations on the right highlight the various amenities of Pullman travel.
