Description

With an aesthetic that appears to be lifted directly from the Bayeux Tapestry, this pictorial map of Scotland is a lovely commemoration of the country’s long (and often bloody) history. Illustrations of some of the nation’s most prominent battles are scattered across the map, which also identifies the locations of various castles and battle sites using small symbols.

Last names roughly reflect the approximate origin of various Scottish clans. Accompanied by the 86 page guidebook, which provides further historical background and a clan index. The back cover states “every Scottish home throughout the World should possess a copy of Scots Kith & Kin.”

Written and published by Cherrie Osborne in Edinburgh around 1960.
