Description
“Ancient territories of Scottish clans or considerable families, with arms of the chiefs or heads.” – Text, top. This marvelous Clan Map of Scotland was the product of years of genealogical and historical research by Sir Iain Moncreiffe and Don Pottinger. Approximate territories are assigned to clans around the rule of King James VI, “but taking the history of each district or family as a whole.”
The largest families include the Kennedys, Macleods, Campbells, Mackenzies, Macphersons, Gordons, Grants, and Camerons – surnames that still resound with a political gravitas (or ignominy) into the 21st century.
