Description
“Yield to the lure of the playground of America, fascinating resort of pleasant winters and delightful summers. Visit its many and different beaches stretching over the longest coast line of any other state. Enjoy a sports program almost without parallel for variety. Drop your line into some of the world’s greatest fishing waters.” [Text, lower left]
This colorful map of Florida was originally drawn by George D. Way in 1940 and issued in a tourism booklet about the Sunshine State. Dozens of attractive vignettes highlight recreational opportunities, historic sites, local exports, military installations, and notable industries, among many other features. Locations of interest include spring training sites for Major League Baseball, Pigeon Key (the world’s smallest inhabited island), and the winter quarters for the Ringling Bros. Circus.
