Description
“Yield to the lure of the playground of America, fascinating resort of pleasant winters and delightful summers. Visit its many and different beaches stretching over the longest coast line of any other state. Enjoy a sports program almost without parallel for variety. Drop your line into some of the world’s greatest fishing waters.” [Text, lower left]
This vibrant pictorial map of Florida was originally designed by George D. Way in the early 1940s, though this is a later postwar issue. The inviting image highlights the robust network of highways, various outdoor attractions, and abundant flora and fauna of the Sunshine State. Captioned photographs in the surrounding area depict several prominent landmarks and leisures. The verso of the sheet offers a more practical road map of the entire state, with inset plans of major urban areas.
Published in 1948 by the State Roadway Department of Florida. An interesting example of postwar promotion reflecting the massive statewide boom in tourism.
