Description
“Rapidly moving events in Europe suggest that many of the old frontiers may be restored, if Germany has her way.”
This brightly colored political map of Europe was designed by the Art Department of the Milwaukee Journal for publication in the Editorial Section for the August 27, 1939 issue (note the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia). Just a few days earlier, the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact shocked the Western World, as Germany and the Soviet Union publicly declared their intent of non-aggression. On September 1st, Hitler would invade Poland.
