This attractive map of Scandinavia was published by Daniel Lizars in Edinburgh around 1835. It uses bright original color to highlight the territory of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland along the coasts of the North and Baltic Seas. Topography is depicted with delicate hachures, emphasizing a rugged terrain, especially in the north and east.

The network of roads primarily hugs the coastline, though the interior of both Norway and Sweden seem apparently quite accessible. Toponyms identify an interesting variety of place names, geographic features, and locations of interest. Finland’s former boundary, prior to its annexation by Russia in the Finnish War (1808-1809), can be seen in the east. An inset map of Iceland can be seen in the upper left.
