A commemorative map of Operation Desert Shield by Military Living.

Description
This map of Saudi Arabia was published in 1991 to observe and celebrate Operation Desert Shield, a massive U.S.-led military buildup to deter Iraqi aggression under Saddam Hussein. The transportation and oil infrastructure is emphasized in the primary image, with surrounding captioned photographs providing additional context. A similarly designed map of the whole Middle East can be found on the verso, accompanied by descriptive text of selected Middle Eastern countries.
The map was produced by the University of Maryland Baltimore County Cartographic Services. Copyrighted 1991 by William and Lela Ann Crawford, with Roy Crawford, Jr. noted as the Vice President of Marketing. The trio is presumably all part of the family-owned Military Living, a company based in Falls Church, VA that specializes in commemorative publications (according to text in the upper left).
