Description

This detailed map of Colorado’s San Juan National Forest was designed and published by the United States Forest Service in 1961. It was issued as a guide to guests in the park and presents brightly colored warnings about being a litterbug and fire safety.

A comprehensive legend in the upper right notes the various symbols used to label transportation routes (trails, roads, highways), infrastructure (power and telephone lines), ranger stations, and local industries like mills, corrals, and mines. Thirty-four different campground and picnicking sites are numbered throughout the image and identified on the verso.
