A reduced version of Archar’s dense presentation of San Francisco.

This charming pictorial presentation of San Francisco, California was first designed and copywritten by Toronto-based Archar, Inc. in 1982 (the artist’s initials R.U.N. and G.M.L. can be seen in the lower right). This is likely a somewhat later reduced issue, published as advertising material for Purolator Courier.

Vignettes representing iconic buildings, landmarks, and local transportation are interspersed with amusing cartoon characters and descriptive text. A careful review of the content reveals numerous humorous scenes; such as an attack by the Creature from the Black Lagoon, jubilant fans at Candlestick Park, a clever pun on Seal Island, and an attempted escape from Alcatraz.
