Description

This lively souvenir certificate was issued as an award to Adolph W. Johnson of the U.S.S. Massey in 1966 for his successful circumnavigation of the globe. Johnson, along with approximately 325 other sailors, departed on the Massey from Newport, Rhode Island in January for operations in Vietnam and returned in August.

A list of the ports of call can be seen at the bottom of the sheet along with allegorical illustrations representing the China Seas, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean. Two hemispheres at the top reflect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
