Description

This two-toned road map covers Marin County, California, situated on the Pacific Coast just across the bay from San Francisco. Paved highways and oiled roads are highlighted in red, while gravel or dirt thoroughfares are shown in blue. U.S. Highways are numbered, where applicable, and locations of interest such as lodges, parks, geographic features, ranches, and country clubs are labeled throughout.

An inset map in the upper right shows the area around San Rafael, including the local branch of the California State Automobile Association (C.S.A.A.). Information on California’s National Forests and a list of recommended hotels and garages is provided on the verso, along with the always-relevant warning to Prevent Forest Fires.

Published and copywritten in 1930 in San Francisco by the California State Automobile Association. C.S.A.A. branch offices are noted throughout the image with bright red stars.
