Only 1,000 of the open-body models were produced from 1959 – 1964, though they were ideal for tooling around sunny climates and available in a variety of bright colors.
An image of the iconic truck can be seen in the upper right on this souvenir map, issued by a local rental car company. Various locations of interest, resorts, and geographic features are labeled throughout the image. Paved roads are highlighted in red – motorists would do well to stick with the upgraded surfaces, as the Gala did not have a four-wheel drive.
